Report No 1: Getting things right ...

Things decided some time ago slowly became reality! Alex had his last day at work two weeks before we left Switzerland. He came home and was sick! The cough is still there but it's not too bad anymore.

The farewell party was very nice and a lot of friends made the way to Schwerzenbach. Also Susi and Patrick found our home at 23 o'clock and we were happy to see them and all the others. Thanx!

The very next day we started packing the things in our flat. As we could get a storage place in the same building our flat was, we could just take load by load with the elevator and put it into the storage room.
STILL: Moving is no fun and there was really a lot to do! So we didn't have much time to spend on not necessary things.

Luca was very good during our packing time. He just kept himself busy. He noticed that there was something strange going on. The cupboard with the mirror, where he always looked at this little boy everytime he passed, wasn't there anymore.
Even though Luca was very good, he had to be looked after all the time. And carrying bigger things to the storage room needed the two of us. There we got the great help of Christine, Melanie and Maria and Heinz. THANX A LOT!!!

Towards the end of our time in Switzerland it became difficult to live in our flat. So we were very happy to make use of the great offer of Susanne and Amar to use their flat. THANX A LOT also to you!!!

On the 30th of April 2004 we left Switzerland. We were glad that all the finishing went so well but we still didn't realize that the big trip would be starting now!
The flight over London went really well. Luca was happy in his car seat most of the time (which fitted OK in the seat of the airplane) and the very annoying group of british rugby players (noisy throughout the whole way from London to LA) was good as they kept us awake so that we could go to bed after the arrival at Gisela and we could still sleep during the night.

The arrival in Los Angeles and the entering the United States of America went absolutely easy. They took our fingerprints with a little scanner and made photos with a little round Webcam from Logitec;-)
Gisela waited for us outside and gave us a warm welcome. We feel comfortable and at home from the first second!

On Sunday Christine (Gisela's daugther) invited us to her house and we could meet the nice family!

Gisela, Christine, Amad, Susi, Henry and Stefan

Christine could give us good tips and hints for our further, more detailed planning of our tour towards North and we now know to keep away from the poison Oak plant!

On Monday Gisela drove us to the car rental place where we could fetch our home for the next five months:

Our thursty home until October

Soon we get the nescessary groceries and then we will hit the road very soon ...
